Sambalpur: Vigilance officers in the vigilance net, bribed Rs 10 lakh through Vigilance Network
Sambalpur: The Sambalpur Vigilance Division is back in the spotlight every years. Vigilance Inspector Prabirkeshari Tripathi, a Governor-Award-winning Vigilance Inspector, has been suspended, while Vigilance Inspector Mansi Jena has been caught red-handed. She caught red-handed taking a bribe from Mukesh Sahu, a resident of Bargarh, of Rs 10 lakh to cover the case of a government official.
According to Vigilance sources, Vigilance Inspector Mansi Jena was the investigating officer in the case of a government official who had previously been in Vigilance. Mansi had demanded Rs 10 lakh from Mukesh Sahu, a private from Bargarh, to settle the case. Mukesh was arrested by the Odisha Vigilance Internal Unit (IVU) at around 2pm today while paying Rs 10 lakh. Mukesh accepted the money as per Mansi’s instructions. The money was confiscated by Vigilance officials before being handed over to Mansi. Mansi’s house is then being raided in Sambalpur, Sundargarh and Bhubaneswar. Vigilance raids are also underway at Mukesh’s Bargarh residence. Yesterday, the Vigilance Cell filed a case under Section 7/12 PC Act, 1988, on the basis of the plaintiffs’ case. Further investigations are ongoing through Mansi and Mukesh. Vigilance director YK Jethwa said vigilance officers were being monitored. An internal vigilance unit has been set up in the Vigilance Cell Division under the Vigilance Directorate. The unit is overseeing the activities of vigilance officers. Vigilance director Mr Jethwa said action would be taken against anyone who committed corruption.
