Sambalpur: Vssut student achievement, automatic tap to prevent water wastage

Nitesh Kumar Kabi, a 2021 batch student of Veer Surendra Sai Technical University (Vssut), has added a new milestone to ideas and innovation cell. In his project, he has successfully developed a smart automatic water tap and indicator. A few years ago, the late Prof. Birendra Kumar Barik, Assistant Professor, Department of Production Engineering, oversaw the major issues of water wastage at the Barik Pool Hall of Residence. So he held talks with his student Nitesh Kumar Kabi. Even though the pumps were running at full capacity, the tanks were not fully filled. Since the building is an eight-storey, it is unknown at this time in which location the tap will open and where the leakage problem will occur. It was also found that most students kept the tap open because the water did not appear to be coming. When the empty tank is filled with water, some of it is wasted through that open tap. This problem was taken by faculty and students as a challenge. Worked on this problem and created an automated skirt tap and indicator. Not only does this automatic tap notify the user that the tank is empty, but it also locks itself in. As a result, no one can waste water.

After many years of hard work, the project was finally completed under the late Prof. Birendra Kumar Barik, Dr. Truptiranjan Mohapatra, Dr. Devdatta Mishra. According to Professors, such an idea innovation cell Vssut will always encourage innovation.
