Sambalpur: Third degree to the minor child inside Sadar police station. Suspecting a thief, the locals caught the child and handed it over to the police. The police also came and took away the child. Police arrested the child for 6 days in the police station. The child was beaten in such a way that his hands, legs and face were scarred. On 27th, when the said minor went down to drink water in the area of Sadar Thana Sindurpank, he forget the way. Meanwhile, while he was looking for a way, a man called him a thief and caught him and handed him over to the police. Sadar Thana police also demanded 50 thousand from the minor. It is alleged that he called the child’s father and told him that the child would be taken away if he paid Rs 50,000 in cash. But after the child’s father said that he was unable to pay the money, at once as his father was working as a labourer.
But the police did not let the minor go or did not follow the law for juvenile offenders. Instead, it is alleged that the minor was kept in the police station for 6 days and beaten up. On the other hand, after this incident, the minor’s father approached a Sambalpur lawyer and filed a petition with the Sambalpur SP. In which all the incidents were mentioned. After this, the Sadar Police Station contacted Childline and said that they have found the Bhakti child. On the other hand, after handing over the child to Childline, the police contacted his father and informed him about the incident. the police handed over the child to Childline today. On the other hand, Childline has rescued the child and brought it to CWC. It has been informed that the child’s father will reach Sambalpur on Wednesday and take him.
After Tuesday’s incident, questions have arisen again that Sambalpur police will be sensitive to child labour. Last month, a minor was rescued as a child laborer from the house of an assistant enforcement officer. But even after Childline made such a charge and spoke against the minor girl, the police did not take any action. As a result, such indifference towards child cases has raised questions about the working style of the police.
