Sambalpur: A sharecropper farmer committed suicide

Sambalpur: A farmer who was supplying food to others committed suicide after being cheated, a rare incident has taken place in Shershuantal village of Sambalpur Sasan Thana area. The farmer who committed suicide is Elicit Gopal Krishna. He had been farming as a sharecropper for 5 years in a man’s farm of Bohidarkata village. After selling the grain, all the money went to the land owner’s account. However, his son has complained that he did not pay any money to Elicit Gopal Krishna. According to his son’s complaint, the land owner had to pay his father two and a half lakh rupees. Krishna was disappointed after asking again and again about the money. He was under pressure as the burden of family maintenance was increasing day by day in financial turmoil. On Tuesday morning, he drank the pesticide. The family rescued him and admitted him to Burla Vimsar. There the doctor declared him dead. Burla police has registered a case of death and started investigation of the incident. His son demanded a proper investigation and justice.
