Sambalpur: Neighbor Stabs Mother and Daughter in Shop at Fatak, Hospitalized in Critical Condition

Sambalpur: In a shocking incident, a mother and daughter were stabbed by their neighbor in a small tailoring shop near the Fatak Mahamaya Temple under the jurisdiction of Ainthapali police station. The victims, Indu and Payal, residents of Dhanipali, were attacked with a knife by their neighbor. Both were initially admitted to the district hospital in critical condition and later transferred to Burla Vimsar for further treatment.

According to sources, Indu’s husband is a mosaic worker who is currently unwell and unable to work. The family consists of two daughters and a son. The elder daughter is married to a businessman from Barkote, while the son is still studying. Despite financial hardships, the mother and daughter worked hard to purchase a small piece of land and build a house in Danipali, taking loans and enduring significant struggles.

However, the family has been involved in a long-standing land dispute with their neighbor, which has led to ongoing hostility. This dispute has resulted in multiple complaints being lodged at the police station. Today, the situation escalated to a violent confrontation, resulting in the neighbor stabbing the mother and daughter.

According to Tofan Bag, the Sambalpur Sadar SDPO, the daughter Payal can speak, but her mother Indu is in very critical condition and unable to talk. The knife attack by their neighbor has left them with severe injuries on the chest, abdomen, and other body parts.

Bag stated that on instructions from the Sambalpur Superintendent of Police, a special team has been formed to arrest the accused neighbor who is currently absconding. Efforts are underway to apprehend him as soon as possible, and further investigation into the matter is ongoing.

While the exact reason behind the brutal attack is yet to be ascertained through a detailed investigation, Bag mentioned that based on the daughter’s statement, it seems to have stemmed from some family dispute with their neighbor.
